2018 Mercedes Sprinter will continue to “define segment”

Mercedes has released further details of its all-new Sprinter ahead of a full reveal next year. It’s set to join the X-Class pick-up as part of a new generation of Mercedes commercial vehicles.

This sketch is closest glimpse yet at the next generation of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.

More lease deals on the current Sprinter

A teaser sketch suggests that the all-new van will get some car-like styling cues that until now haven’t been seen on larger vans –  angular headlights and alloy wheels give it a classy demeanour.

Like the X-Class pickup, Mercedes' trademark star takes pride of place on the grille, and is much larger than the current Sprinter’s badging.

The most notable updates are on the inside though, where a host of new infotainment and connectivity tech should put the new Sprinter in a class of its own; as far as vans are concerned, anyway.

With a touchscreen infotainment system sat between two E-Class-like vents, this has to be one of the classiest van interiors ever. State-of-the-art connectivity hardware and the Mercedes PRO connect services will allow optimised communications between fleet manager and driver, too.

The upcoming Sprinter will get a classy interior (by van standards anyway)

Mercedes promises further enhancements when it comes to body-styles with more variants, wheelbases, load height and interior versatility options across the range.

We’re yet to learn which engines will feature, but Mercedes says the Sprinter forms part of its electrification strategy, and an all-electric eSprinter is due in 2019, following the release of the smaller eVito.

Mercedes-Benz Vans' holistic strategy includes the systematic electrification of company fleets. The eVito, which became available for ordering some days ago, will kick off the process next year, followed by the eSprinter in 2019.

Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Volker Mornhinweg said: “We want to offer the most suitable mobility solution for every sector and for every transport assignment. And that is precisely our focus with the upcoming Sprinter generation as an overall system solution.”

We’ll bring you more details as and when they are released but, if you can’t wait for the launch of the new Sprinter, we have thousands of deals on the class-leading current version here.
