Volkswagen in search of a hero

As it prepares for the launch of the new Touran and Sharan MPVs in the UK, Volkswagen has launched a unique marketing campaign.The German car maker is working on the idea that modern parents are everyday heroes thanks to their ability to juggle the commitments of family life with work demands while also cobbling together a scale model of HMS Invincible from nothing but a lump of plasticine and a fork! This is meant to reflect the heroic nature of the Touran and Sharan for families – as both seven seat vehicles are designed to meet these everyday pressures.[caption id="attachment_10629" align="aligncenter" width="396" caption="The new Volkswagen Touran."][/caption]Now visitors to the ultimatefamilyhero.co.uk website have the chance to upload an image and have it turned into the superhero of their choice before creating their own comic book cover which can be shared with friends on Facebook or entered into a competition to win a new Touran or Sharan.Each nomination will be displayed in an online “superheroes gallery” with three finalists to be chosen. They will then be asked to complete a series of challenging missions – such as completing a school run in the new Touran or Sharan – footage of which will be posted on to the website.Not only do the families have the chance to win a Touran or Sharan, but they can also receive a prize of £5,000 to donate to a local community charity, project or group.As for the vehicles themselves – the Touran is now available for orders with the first deliveries of the new Sharan expected to begin in November.
