Suzuki heading to the 80th Geneva Motor Show
Written By Richard Lawton Published On: Feb 10 2010Japanese car maker Suzuki has confirmed it is heading to the Geneva Motor Show in March with an exhibition of its latest hybrid power developments. The popular Suzuki Swift supermini has been kitted out with a lithium-ion battery and a 660cc petrol engine. The Plug-in Hybrid has been designed to be driven purely on the battery, with the engine purely as back-up, it is also equipped with a generator to quickly charge the batteries.
The manufacturer will also be showing off it’s ‘D’ segment saloon the ‘Kizashi’ for the first time in Europe. This top of the range model has recently gone on sale in Japan and North America and has been confirmed for the Swiss market, however at the moment it isn’t planned to come to the UK. Things change however and if the model proves popular in Switzerland we could see it arrive in 2011.
The Kizashi Sports saloon is powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine with latest design CVT transmission and intelligent i-AWD four-wheel drive technology as standard equipment.
Finally, both the three-door and five-door Grand Vitara models will be receiving some small styling changes, and these too will be premiered at the show. The biggest news is that the tailgate has been redesigned and that distinctive spare wheel is no more!
