Renault vans to get off-road tech from this summer
Renault has announced that it will be improving the all-terrain capability of its light commercial vehicle fleet with the addition of X-Track off-road technology.
This new equipment, which is offered on Kangoo, Trafic and Master vans, includes a limited-slip differential, raised ground clearance, underbody protection and all-weather tyres. Although this set-up does not include four-wheel drive, Renault says it will “provide even higher traction” in “particularly challenging conditions”.
X-Track complements the existing Grip Xtend system which is offered on the Kangoo, Trafic and Master. Like X-Track, Grip Xtend provides extra traction without the addition of four-wheel drive, although it does this via a sophisticated traction control system.
Despite the arrival of X-Track, Renault has still seen fit to offer the Master (below) with all-wheel drive. The selectable system allows the driver to choose whether or not drive is sent to all four wheels, maximising fuel economy on the road and providing extra grip off-road.
The 4x4 Master and the X-Track technology will go on sale this summer, with full specifications announced closer to the release date.
