Renault makes £9million investment in UK
Written By Paul Lucas Published On: Oct 11 2009 Celebrations were due for Renault Trucks as it opened a new dealership in Coventry as one half of two major investments in the UK.The company invested £4million on the site and a further £5million on a new Renault Trucks headquarters in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.The dealership has been constructed on the site of an old Lynx distribution warehouse and is in a prime location for easy access from a number of major road routes. It covers 2.5acres and includes a custom-built internal showroom and reception area as well as a fully equipped four bay workshop with two full length inspection pits, a comprehensive parts store and a state-of-the-art cleaning facility.Meanwhile, the new headquarters in Dunstable will be the home to three companies: Renault Trucks UK Ltd, Renault Truck Commercial Ltd and BRS Ltd, the group’s truck rental, contract hire and fleet management services company.The firm has had a long association with the area having been located in the region since 1981.According to Laurent Farman, the managing director of Renault Trucks UK Ltd, the investment shows the company is here to stay.“As we all know, economic conditions are very difficult at the moment but the UK market is still the third largest truck market in Europe and there are still opportunities for us to grow today and in the future,” he said.“Customers will start buying trucks again and recovery will come. We now have the best products, the best processes, the best people and the best network that we’ve ever had in our history, so are in a very strong position to take advantage of this recovery as it happens.”
