Really good runners at the Great Manchester Run
Written By Richard Lawton Published On: Jun 01 2009 Employees of Really Good Domains Ltd, the company which operates market leading website ContractHireAndLeasing.com, laced their trainers and donned their running shirts to take to the streets of Manchester on the morning of Sunday May 17th at the annual Great Manchester Run event.
Over 33,000 runners completed the 10km course, which took in some of Manchester’s most iconic buildings such as the Beetham Tower, Old Trafford stadium, and the Imperial War Museum North. Since its inaugural race in 2003, the Great Manchester Run has become one of the largest mass participation races in the country, and one of the biggest sporting events in the North West of England. Travelling significantly quicker than any of the Really Good Domains runners was this year’s male winner Haile Gebrselassie while the women’s race was won by Kenyan athlete Vivian Cheruiyot, in 27mins 39 seconds and 32min 01sec respectively; the strong winds on the day scuppering any chance of records getting smashed. In all ten runners from Really Good Domains completed the run, raising money for several charities in the process, those where Iain Campbell, Craig Cooke, Mark Doyle, Rachel Geddes, Philip Gray, Gill Griffiths, Andy Heywood, Richard Lawton, Dave Mason, and Michaela Syzling. Fastest on the day for Really Good Domains was the impressive Dave Mason who zipped around the course in 55mins and 38 seconds - well done Dave!At the time of publication a total of £680 had been raised for the British Heart Foundation, approx. £300 for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) and £160 for Cancer Research. If you would like to retrospectively sponsor the team then please visit www.justgiving.com/reallygooddomains where any donations will be gratefully received.
