Lombard reduces CO2, fuel consumption and costs for large fleet
Written By Richard Lawton Published On: Feb 08 2010Lombard Vehicle Management has been appointed by national lawn treatment business GreenThumb to fund and manage a fleet of around 800 vans on an exclusive basis.
During 2010 an expected 230 units will be delivered to the company, most on contract hire and predominantly on three year deals and 45,000 miles.
Lombard provided GreenThumb with a whole-life cost analysis demonstrating that savings could be made not just over the vehicles’ term but also operationally through better fuel consumption. In addition the fleet will have a lower environmental impact thanks to lower CO2 emissions. The new vans, VW Caddy Maxi 1.9 Tdis, will reduce fuel consumption by 15% and CO2 by 25% over the existing fleet, some of which the VWs are replacing immediately.
“We were impressed by the Lombard team’s technical knowledge and also how they could assist us throughout the contract on a relationship basis,” says GreenThumb director David Griffiths.
“The whole-life cost approach demonstrated that we could make substantial savings yet actually improve our fleet operation. The quality of service we have been given by Lombard has been very high. The team has gone the extra mile and given us a lot of confidence for the future.”
The deal was handled by Rachel Moxey, Lombard Key Fleet Manager for Cheshire and North Wales, supported by Lombard’s Van Sales Unit. Moxey is part of Lombard’s dedicated network of SME fleet specialists operating out of almost 40 business centres across the UK.
GreenThumb is based in Denbighshire, North Wales. The company was founded in 1985 since when it has pioneered lawn treatment in the UK and become the largest such business in the country, with over 190 operations nationwide.
