Bucking the trend of the recent gloomy news in both the automotive and manufacturing industries in the UK is Rolls-Royce; which is looking to increase the manufacturing workforce by some 50 per cent!rolls-royce-badge2With the imminent arrival of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost the Goodwood-based luxury vehicle maker has created more than 150 new jobs, mainly in the wood, leather, and paint shops.Speaking from Goodwood, Rolls-Royce CEO Tom Purves said, “This is good news for the British car industry at a time when it is struggling. Britain has an exceptional talent for automotive production and we are keen to maximise this at Rolls-Royce. Our new model, the Ghost, has enjoyed an extremely positive international response and we now need to put people in place to bring the car to market.”All positions are expected to be filled in the coming months and the company hope to call upon the large pool of highly-skilled automotive industry personnel available in the UK.The first customers of the new Rolls can expect delivery in early 2010 with the assembly line gearing up in the autumn.In these current troubling times all good news coming out of the UK automotive industry is a welcome tonic.
