FAQs Answers to the most common of cee’d questions

When does the car go on sale?
1st September 2007

What are the UK sales targets?
We expect to sell 400 in the remainder of 2007 and more than 1,000 in 2008, the car’s first full year on the market.

Why the reduced engine range compared with the five-door?

Because estates account for only nine percent of C-segment sales, and by far the most popular models have engines around 1.6-litres. With the range we are introducing, we are able to cover the vast majority of the market without over-complicating our line-up.

What is the likely sales mix?

Diesel models make up 65% of C-segment estate sales and we expect the cee’d SW to be in line with this.

How important is the fleet market for this car?

Fleets account for 82% of sales in this sector, so the arrival of the SW, our first estate, gives us good potential in this market. However, we are also looking to develop a significant presence in an expanding retail sector for those customers choosing a lifestyle estate model.

What do you see as its major competitors?

The Ford Focus estate, Vauxhall Astra estate, Renault Megane Sports Tourer and Peugeot 307 estate. Volkswagen, Mazda and Hyundai will all soon enter this market, too.

What is the cee’d SW’s unique selling point?

The seven-year manufacturers warranty and its unrivalled level of standard equipment combined with attractive pricing and the unique forward-mounted hinges that reduce the backswing and upswing of the tailgate when opening.

Is the market growing?

It is expected to increase gradually. Customers demand greater flexibility and versatility in their cars, as shown by the shift towards MPVs and SUVs. However, they not only involve styling and dynamic compromises, but are becoming increasingly expensive to buy and run, and stylish estates such as the cee’d have the potential to take their place as specific lifestyle choices.

Any further versions planned?

The high-power 1.6-litre diesel will become available with automatic transmission in November and we may introduce a specific sporty SW powered by our 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, depending on market demand.
