The chancellor’s VAT cut this week hasn’t gone far enough for SsangYong. So the South Korean maker of Kyron, Rexton and Rodius passenger cars and light commercials is cutting prices by fiveper cent from this Monday, December 1 - just in time for Christmas.
The reduction in VAT of 2.5 percentage points means a saving of just £2.50 on every £100. But the price of a Kyron 2.0 S and a Rodius 270 S is being slashed by £736, with both ranges now starting at only £14,259 on the road.

South Korean car manufacturer Ssangyong have announced the unveiling of a new compact SUV at the Paris Motor Show.

Siemens Motor Contracts, the contract hire business within Siemens Financial Services Limited in the UK has been appointed by Koelliker UK Limited (Koelliker), the importer and distributor of SsangYong vehicles in the UK as its exclusive provider of business finance.

Paul Williams, the former Kia boss has been appointed managing director of Koelliker UK, the new importer and distributor of SsangYong in the UK. SYUK entered administration at the end of 2007 and Williams plans to relaunch the specialist 4×4 South Korean brand.
SsangYong will look to recruit dealers at the Motor Trader’s Dealer Drive on the 20th May 2008. William’s immediate priority is rebuild the dealer network and to double volumes to 3,000 units this year.
