BMW blame rising cost of oil and materials, a weakening U.S economy and international financial downturn for the revision of its financial forecast.
Pre-tax profit for the second quarter of 2008 is 602 million euros down by 43 per cent, compared to the second quarter of 2007 when profit was 1,065 million euros.

The five millionth 5 Series has rolled off the production line at Dingolfing, Germany. The 530d Saloon in Carbon Black marks a significant milestone in the story of a BMW Series that first started life as a concept car in 1972.

German car manufacturer BMW have announced plans to cut a further 5,600 jobs by the end of 2008. The decision forms part of a wide cost-cutting scheme and the effects will be felt in Germany and its other markets.
