Referred to as the ‘triangle square concept’, the stylishly designed Honda Freed was officially launched in Borneo on Friday by Happy Motoring Company Sdn Bhd.
The car, which scooped the Best Value Award in the Japanese Car of the Year awards originally made its debut in Japan in May 2008. According to Happy Motoring Company Sdn Bhd managing director Loh Kok Sin, it is an international product that is specifically designed to meet the needs of Asian customers.
In fact, the Honda Freed is powered by a 1.5litre i-VTEC engine with a five-speed automatic transmission – the engine can also be found in the Honda Jazz. It is notable for the design of its interior, and particularly the unique positioning of the gearshift handle on the dashboard, and is expected to hold appeal for young families.
The vehicle has powered sliding doors on both sides which open up to a full width of 600mm. It can also be operated with a touch sensor at the driver’s seat or using a keyless remote control system.
The introductory period price is $37,999 down from the usual $40,990.
