Electric, eccentric, the four-seat Peugeot BB1 comes to London

This awkward looking car is heading to Britain! Here at ContractHireAndLeasing.com we’re not too sure which is the front of the car and which is the back, with one end of the car looking remarkably similar to the old Renault Megane “Shake Your Ass” back end.

However, rest assured this is the latest concept vehicle from French carmaker Peugeot as it looks to combat the thorny problem of squeezing as much space out of a small wheel base vehicle which is also powered by electricity – the result is the BB1.

If you are curious about this little critter of a car – and it caused a fair bit of commotion at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show – then why not head down to Covent Garden, London this weekend (November 7th and 8th) to check it out.

The BB1 is said to be a glimpse of what could be urban mobility in the future. A cross between a car and a scooter, it is powered by two clever electric motors mounted in the rear wheels and has enough power from its lithium-ion battery packs to travel up to 75 miles between recharges.

What makes this car different to many urban mobility concepts is that four friendly adults can be accommodated thanks to an innovative layout. Solar panels help power the vehicle’s onboard systems and it will communicate directly with a modern smart phone, so you can have your music, images, hands-free phone and navigation, just how you like it!

Twenty five Peugeot BB1 branded rickshaws will also be operating around Central London to ferry interested individuals to the BB1 display, free of both cost and of course emissions.

I think I’ll stick to the trusty 308 for the time being…
