MiTo tops residual values

56947alfJust one week after the eye-catching Alfa MiTo went on sale in the UK, the compact and sporty new model has knocked MINI off the top spot in terms of resale value, according to a new report from industry experts CAP.

Over a one year period and 10,000 miles, seven Alfa Mito versions are expected to out-perform the MINI for holding their value.  In that period the Alfa MiTo 1.3 JTDM is predicted to retain a very credible 81 per cent of its original price – a full 5 per cent more than the closest MINI.

Even after three years and 60,000 miles the Alfa MiTo 1.3 JTDM with Veloce trim remains at the top of the charts, retaining 49 per cent of its original price – still ahead of all MINI variants.

Both petrol and diesel engines out-perform MINI’s equivalents; with the MiTo 1.4 TB 120bhp Veloce retaining a 46 per cent predicted residual value compared to the MINI Cooper 1.6 Pepper which retains 45 per cent. While the MiTo 1.6 JTDM Veloce secures a 48 per cent residual value after three years compared to the MINI Cooper D 1.6 Chili which retains 47 per cent.

Used Vehicle Remarketing Manager, Simon Wheeler, says: “This is significant testimony to the exceptional attention to detail Alfa Romeo has applied to this car in terms of design, build quality, reliability, running costs and desirability.  Add to the mix the improvements made by the Alfa Romeo dealer network of late, and customers can buy the new Alfa MiTo with absolute confidence, knowing that they are not just investing in a great looking car that is a joy to drive, but also protecting their investment with strong future values.”
