While the motor industry in general might have suffered during 2008, news from the Swedish Carmaker has bucked the trend with sales increasing by almost 11%, in turn increasing their total market share by 25%, with an increase from 1.25% to 1.56%.
In total the company managed to shift 33,358 cars during the year with its C30 SportsCoupe, S40 and V50 having particular success amongst buyers.
Nick Connor, Sales Director at Volvo Car UK Ltd, said: “Our efforts to realign price and trim levels gave our model range an additional edge in 2008.
“The introduction of the R-DESIGN package on C30, S40 and V50 models has also played a major role in attracting new customers to the brand, while used car experts CAP say it’s also had a positive effect on residual values too, further increasing the cars’ desirability at a time of economic uncertainty.”
Looking to 2009 the company will be launching its DRIVe range of more economical vehicles, including DRIVe variants for the C30 SportsCoupe, S40 Saloon, and V50 Sportswagon models. All three cars have CO2 emissions below 120 g/KM and return more than 62mpg.
