The General Motors plant in Luton has been celebrating an important milestone as the 600,000th Vivaro-type van has rolled off the production line.
One of GM UK’s biggest fleet customers BSkyB are now the proud owners of the van.
The Vivaro has been built at Luton since spring 2001, as a collaboration between Vauxhall and Renault; the factory produces all European specification low-roof versions of the Vivaro, badged Opel or Vauxhall according to market, as well as vans for Nissan and Renault.
The plant employees over 1,400 people, mainly from the local area, and the Plant Director, Paul Staes dedicated the success of the model to the hard working and dedicated workforce.
Last year, 2007, saw Vauxhall sell over 53,000 vans and the Vivaro was the number one van for retail customers in September 2008.
