The 62nd Hanover International Motor Show opened to the public yesterday, providing manufacturers of commercial vehicles with the perfect opportunity to showcase their forthcoming models.
The focus so far seems to be on the green theme, first Nissan announcing its plans to double its revenue from LCVs and revealing its latest addition to the line-up, the NV200 (pictured) to hit the road in early 2009. Towing the environmental line, Nissan were quick to add that they will be aiming to release a hybrid light commercial vehicle by 2012, showcasing their prototype hybrid Cabstar, which Nissan promise will have 30 per cent lower CO2 emissions than the current Cabstar.
Likewise Mercedes are showcasing their plug-in hybrid version of the Sprinter van and the an extra frugal diesel concept , the Vito BlueEfficiency.
Other highlights include Volkswagen’s stand, with a Bluemotion version of the Crafter van.
Tickets are still available from the trade fair’s box office in Hanover, the show runs until next Thursday, 2nd October.
