The cost of parking in council-run park is increasing at three times the rate of inflation, the Daily Mail reported. Local councils have pushed up the cost of parking in shopping centres and central town areas by 14 per cent in two year according to figures released by the Department of Communities and Local Government. The statistics show that £554 million was raised from off-road parking in the financial year 2004/2005.That rose to £599 million in 2006 and £633 million in 2007. Shadow read more

The once familiar sight of a red and white striped booth is in danger of disappearing from British beaches with over one in three children saying they have never experienced a Punch and Judy show.  In comparison, 78 per cent of adults used to watch at least one show a year when they were children. Morrisons announced a further 2p off the price of unleaded petrol yesterday, reducing petrol to £1.10 a litre. Shortly after Tesco and Asda told Daily Telegraph that they could match this figure.
