Proton extends Gen-2 range

Malysian maker Proton has extended the Gen-2 range with the addition of the Persona and has sent it to boot camp.
That’s right the new four-door saloon comes with a neatly styled boot and is based on the same platform as the five-door version.
Under the bonnet, power comes from a 112PS 1.6-litre engine that has a claimed top speed of 118mph.
The maker is also offering a choice of gearbox – you can pick between a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox.

Proton claims that the Gen-2’s ride, handling and engine are all influenced by its subsidiary Lotus which should make it quite something to drive.
On the inside the Persona comes loaded with standard kit including climate control, electric windows, an MP3/CD stereo system and parking sensors.
The new Persona addition to the Gen-2 range is set to go on sale at the end of March and will cost £9,795 for the manual transmission and £10,595 for the Automatic four-speed option thanks to a £1000 pound dealer discount.
