Record year for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles achieved its eighth consecutive year of increased sales in the UK in 2007. In addition, with total registrations of 27,777 commercial vehicles, Volkswagen’s market share grew to over eight per cent for the first time plus it maintained its position as number one van importer.

With total sales of 30,427 vehicles in the UK in 2007 (including Caravelle and Shuttle passenger carrying derivatives of the Transporter), Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles increased its sales by over 13 per cent compared to 2006 and has more than doubled its UK sales volume compared to eight years ago when it sold 15,069 vehicles at the end of the last Millennium. The UK is now the largest export market for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles outside its home market in Germany.

‘Achieving the milestone of 30,000 vehicle sales for the first time is a fantastic achievement,’ said Robert Hazelwood, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

‘In a competitive market place, the quality, comfort and competitive whole life costs of Volkswagen vans make them more desirable than ever. Together with the high levels of customer service we can deliver through our national network of specialist van centres, plus new models such as the Caddy Maxi being launched this year, we plan on 2008 being even more successful,’ he continued.
