Written By Nikki Geldard Published On: Oct 30 2009 This week has seen the return of actor Tom Chambers to our screens in the BBC1 smash-hit school drama Waterloo Road. The Strictly Come Dancing winner, who claimed his title with professional dance partner Camilla Dallerup, collected a new Raggamuffin Red 1.2 litre soft-top Fiat 500C with Pop trim from Fiat Marylebone in Central London, commenting that he loves both the original and latest versions of the 500.
Also owning What Car? magazine’s Best Supermini of the year, the 500 hatchback bought for wife Claire, Tom has been eagerly awaiting the newest addition to the series, which had its UK launch this summer. The couple also own an early 500 and rate the range as comfortable, reliable, economical and stylish, perfect for transporting Tom around the country with his acting. He has had his sights set on the 500C with its ‘fantastic folding roof’ since he first heard of its release, considering the convertible option a welcome addition to a vehicle he already rates so highly.Fiat certainly compete with their soft-top rivals, giving consumers three ultra-low emissions Euro 5 engines to choose from. With two available trims, Pop and Lounge, consumers can choose between a 69bhp 1.2 litre or 100bhp 1.4 litre petrol engine or a 75bhp 1.3 litre Multijet turbo diesel engine. The Fiat 500C is quickly becoming the must have accessory for celebrities - with Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson and ex-Coronation Street, Waterloo Road actress Angela Griffin both getting their hands on the funky city car in the past few months. Will Tom and Angela discuss their love of all things Italian, retro, small, and convertible on set at Waterloo Road? Who knows!
