Fiat 500 enters the UK Top 10

There’s a new name on the best sellers list in the UK – in the form of the popular super-mini, the Fiat 500.Thanks to sustained sales success, the vehicle sold 2,989 units last month – a significant increase from the 993 vehicles it sold in the same month last year. According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), this takes the vehicle into the Top 10 best sellers list for the first time since its launch in January, 2008.Andrew Humberstone, the managing director of Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd, was thrilled with the results.“This is an incredible result for the Fiat 500 which we are, of course, delighted with,” he said. “Interest in this car has been sky high ever since we launched it here less than two years ago.“The popularity of this superb vehicle speaks for itself and, with the launch this summer of the fantastic 500C, and the option of Start&Stop bringing further environmental benefits to the range, we’re sure we will see the Fiat 500 making even greater inroads into the UK small car market.”Indeed Fiat enjoyed sales success across the board during the month. Its overall sales result of 6,570 sales was up 117.5 per cent compare to the 3,020 figure it recorded during the same period last year.The Fiat 500, which was recently voted Best Supermini by What Car? Magazine, has a starting price of £8,700 on the road and has a choice of three ultra-low emission Euro 5 ready engines.
