A year into production of its new baby model, Land Rover is still achieving huge success with the Range Rover Evoque. With more than 18,000 advance orders from customers worldwide, Jaguar Land Rover’s plant at Halewood has been extremely busy making Evoque models to meet sales demand, which reached 80,000 orders in just the first nine months.
In anticipation of the 2011 launch, the Merseyside plant increased its workforce to 3,000 employees. A further announcement in March this year, pushed that figure up another 1,000 employees, to deliver increased production levels of both the Evoque and Freelander 2.
Attracting business and personal customers alike, the Evoque, with the more than 110 global awards to its name, also benefits from a celebrity endorsement by no less than Victoria Beckham. Praised for its excellent driving dynamics, low running costs and yet retaining the off-road skills of its larger siblings, it’s easy to see why the public have fallen in love with the Evoque. Its success is a boost for the UK economy too, with more than 75 per cent of production exported to more than 170 global markets - generating an estimated £2 billion in annual export value for the country.
