Date set for performance Vauxhall Insignia

The hotly anticipated Vauxhall Insignia VXR (our Insignia VXR news story from earlier in the year) is due in showrooms from September.Based on the 2009 European Car of the Year the VXR includes a number of enhancements to take the cars performance and handling to another level. Developing 325 horse power the 2.8 litre V6 Turbo engine takes the car from 0-60mph in only 5.6 seconds on its way to a limited top speed of 155mph. While the Insignia VXR is the first in the range to feature 4 wheel drive technology, including electronic rear slip differential, and a strengthened chassis over the regular Insignia.
Vauxhall has also called in the experts:
- Expect a 20% lighter stainless steel exhaust system from Vauxhall's BTCC car preparers Remus.
- Bespoke Brembo/Vauxhall braking system to cater for the increase in performance.
- Pirelli P Zero 245/40 tyres on 19" alloys as standard. (20" alloys are an optional extra)
- Front seats provided by specialists Recaro. These seats feature injection moulded plastic and sit lower in the cabin than conventional Insignia seats.
